Follow these steps
Find the device payment balance
Sign in at Verizon’s official site or app and open the device payment / installment section for the phone you plan to bring over. Note the remaining balance and whether it matches the roughly $150 you expect.
You should see: You see the official remaining device balance for that IMEI/line.
Request or pay the payoff amount
If a balance remains, use Verizon’s official payoff or bill-pay flow to pay the remaining device charges. Save the confirmation number and wait until the account shows $0 device balance or paid-off status.
You should see: The installment balance is paid and confirmation is recorded on the Verizon account.
Confirm unlock eligibility
After the balance posts as paid, check Verizon’s unlock or device-eligibility status for that IMEI. Start an unlock request if the phone is still carrier locked and your new carrier requires an unlocked device.
