How do I change how many rings before a Panasonic cordless phone answers?

On most Panasonic cordless base units, set the answering-device ring count from the handset or base menu, choose 2–7 rings or Toll Saver, then save. After saving, place a test call from another phone to confirm the unit answers after the number of rings you selected.
Follow these steps
Open Answering Device settings
On the handset or base, open the menu and go to Answering Device (or Answer / Answering system). Look for Ring count, Number of rings, or a similar ring setting.
You should see: You see the current ring count or Toll Saver option.
Choose the ring count and save
Use the up/down arrows to select 2 to 7 rings, or Toll Saver if you want fewer rings when new messages are waiting. Press SAVE, then OFF or EXIT to leave the menu.
You should see: The handset confirms the setting is stored and returns to standby.
Test with an outside call
From another phone, call the line and count the rings before the Panasonic answering machine greeting starts. Adjust again if you want it to pick up sooner or later.
You should see: The system answers after the ring count you chose.
Check carrier voicemail if needed
If the call still goes to cellphone-style carrier voicemail first, your phone company may be answering before the Panasonic unit. Ask the carrier to raise their ring count, or lower the Panasonic ring setting further.
