How do I fix a blinking arrow on a NordicTrack Elite 1000 treadmill?

Answer

A blinking arrow with no codes usually means the console is waiting for input or is stuck after a glitch. Turn the treadmill off, unplug it for a full 5 minutes, then plug it back in and restart before assuming the touch layer needs service.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Unplug the treadmill before longer waits and keep clear of the belt while powering the machine back on.

Follow these steps

  1. Turn the treadmill off

Press the console power control to shut the display down if it responds. If it does not respond, go straight to unplugging the machine.

You should see: The treadmill is no longer in an active workout or setup state.

  2. Unplug for a full 5 minutes

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and leave it disconnected for 5 full minutes so the console can discharge.

You should see: The display is completely dark and residual power has had time to clear.

  3. Restore power and restart

Plug the treadmill back in, turn it on, and wait for the console to finish booting. Watch whether the blinking arrow clears and normal startup menus appear.

You should see: The console returns to a normal ready screen instead of staying on the blinking arrow.

  4. Test basic console input

Try starting a quick manual workout or pressing the main navigation controls. If the blinking arrow returns immediately and taps still do nothing, the console touch layer may not be registering input and may need NordicTrack support or service.

You should see: Either controls respond normally, or you have confirmed a persistent console input failure after a full restart.

Extra tips

What to look for: A blinking arrow on the NordicTrack Elite 1000 display with no accompanying error codes or messages.

Before you change anything: Note that there are no error codes with the blinking arrow before you restart. Clear space around the power cord and wall outlet. Do not open the console unless you are following official service instructions. Keep children and pets away while the belt area is powered.
