How do I fix a Kenwood DDX5707S stuck on the initial setup screen?

Answer

Try a soft reset with the unit’s reset pinhole while power is on, then walk through setup again. If Finish still will not register, download the official Kenwood USB firmware update for the DDX5707S and install it exactly as Kenwood’s instructions describe.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Interrupting power during a firmware update can leave the stereo unusable.

Follow these steps

  1. Confirm the stuck setup behavior

With the unit powered on, tap near Finish and nearby setup fields once more and note whether any other on-screen control still works.

You should see: You confirm the screen is stuck on setup while touch still works elsewhere.

  2. Perform a faceplate reset

With the unit powered on, gently press the reset pinhole once with a pen tip or paperclip, then wait for the stereo to reboot and return to setup.

You should see: The unit restarts and presents the setup screens again from a clean state.

  3. Complete setup carefully after reboot

Walk through language, demo, and other prompts slowly. Tap Finish only when every required field is filled, and wait a moment between taps.

You should see: Setup completes and the normal Kenwood home or source screen appears.

  4. Install an official USB firmware update if still stuck

From Kenwood’s official support site, download the DDX5707S firmware update, copy it to a compatible USB drive exactly as instructed, then run the update from the stereo’s update menu with stable vehicle power.

You should see: The firmware installs successfully and Finish or normal operation works after the unit reboots.

  5. Seek dealer or Kenwood support if Finish still fails

If reset and firmware do not help, contact Kenwood support or the installer with the model DDX5707S and a description that Finish will not register on initial setup.

You should see: You have a warranty or service path if the unit has a hardware or touch-calibration fault.

Extra tips

What to look for: An Initial Setup or Finish screen that will not complete, a small reset pinhole on the faceplate, and Kenwood’s DDX5707S firmware download page.

Before you change anything: Park safely and keep the vehicle power stable during resets or firmware updates. Note your radio presets and settings; a reset can clear them. Download firmware only from Kenwood’s official support site for model DDX5707S. Do not interrupt power while a firmware update is running.
