How do I fix a rideshare tip link that won't open or work?

Answer

Tip links usually work best when opened directly in the rideshare app rather than a browser, and tipping is normally only available for a limited time after a ride ends. Opening the app directly and finding the ride under trip history is the most reliable path.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Avoid entering account or payment details on any page that arrived through an unexpected text or email link.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the link in a browser directly

Instead of tapping the link where it appeared, copy it and paste it into a browser like Safari or Chrome to open it on its own.

You should see: The page either loads correctly showing a tip option, or shows a clearer error explaining why it will not load.

  2. Find the ride inside the app

Open the rideshare app directly, tap Activity or Trips, and select the specific ride from the list rather than relying on the link.

You should see: The trip details screen opens, showing a receipt with an option to add or adjust a tip if it is still available.

  3. Check for a tip option on the receipt

On the trip details screen, scroll to the receipt section and look for 'Add Tip' or an existing tip amount already applied.

You should see: Either a tip can be added directly here, or the screen shows the tip was already processed.

  4. Contact support if the option is missing

If no tip option appears at all on a recent ride, use the Help section within the app to report the specific trip and ask about adding a tip.

You should see: Support confirms whether the tipping window has closed or resolves the display issue.

Extra tips

What to look for: An 'Add Tip' button or existing tip amount shown on the trip receipt inside the app's Activity or trip history section.

Before you change anything: Confirm which ride and date the tip is meant for. Check whether the ride shows up under trip history in the app at all. Use the official app or website rather than a link from a text or email. Never enter payment details on a page that does not clearly belong to the rideshare service.
