How do I fix a Samsung phone internet icon that looks like a browser?

Often nothing is broken: Samsung Internet’s shortcut icon can change after an update, or a different browser was set as the default Home-screen shortcut. Opening the icon once and checking the app name usually confirms which browser is running.

Follow these steps
Identify which browser the icon opens
Tap the changed icon once, then check the app name at the top or in the Recents/overview screen.
You should see: You see Samsung Internet, Chrome, or another browser name clearly.
Restore a Samsung Internet shortcut if needed
If it is not Samsung Internet, open the app drawer, long-press Samsung Internet, and add it back to the Home screen. You can remove the unwanted shortcut afterward.
You should see: A Samsung Internet icon is on the Home screen again.
Set the default browser
Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps > Browser app and choose the browser you want links to open in.
You should see: Links open in the selected browser going forward.
Update or re-enable Samsung Internet
If Samsung Internet is missing, open Galaxy Store or Play Store, update or reinstall Samsung Internet, then add its shortcut again.
You should see: Samsung Internet installs and the Home-screen icon behaves normally.
