How do I fix an iPod that cannot connect to the iTunes Store?

Answer

When an iPod says it cannot connect to the iTunes Store and shows no error code, incorrect date and time are a common cause. Set Date & Time correctly, confirm Wi-Fi works in Safari, then try the Store again.

Follow these steps

  1. Set the correct date and time

Go to Settings > General > Date & Time. Turn on Set Automatically if available, or manually set the correct date, time, and time zone for your location.

You should see: The iPod clock matches the real local time.

  2. Confirm Wi-Fi access

Open Safari and load a simple website. If pages fail, reconnect to Wi-Fi under Settings > Wi-Fi or try another network.

You should see: Web pages load, showing the iPod has working internet.

  3. Retry the iTunes Store

Open the iTunes Store or Music/Store feature again and sign in only through the official Apple sign-in screen if prompted.

You should see: The Store loads, or a clearer error appears.

  4. Sign out and back into the Apple ID if needed

If the Store still fails, sign out of the Apple ID under Settings, restart the iPod, then sign back in and open the Store once more.

You should see: Store connection succeeds after a clean Apple ID session.

Extra tips

What to look for: A message such as unable to connect to server or cannot connect to the iTunes Store, with no numeric error code.

Before you change anything: Connect to a familiar Wi-Fi network that works on other devices. Note whether Safari can load a normal website on the iPod. Avoid random third-party “iTunes fix” apps. Never share Apple ID passwords or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
