How do I print a product manual or instructions on A4 paper?
Answer
Most manuals are PDFs. Open the PDF, set the printer paper size to A4, and use Fit or Shrink to printable area so nothing is cut off. If only US Letter is available in the dialog, choose A4 under Paper Size or Page Setup first.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Download manuals only from the product maker or a trusted retailer link. Fake “driver update” sites are a common scam.
Follow these steps
Open the official PDF
Open the manual in Preview on a Mac (or another PDF reader). Prefer the manufacturer’s download over a saved webpage screenshot so page size and fonts stay intact.
You should see: The full document opens and you can scroll through complete pages.
Set paper size to A4
Choose File > Print. Open the paper-size or Page Setup control and select A4. If you only see Letter, expand Show Details (Mac) or printer preferences and change Paper Size to A4 before printing.
You should see: The print dialog lists A4 as the selected paper size.
Scale to fit the page
In the print dialog, enable Scale to Fit, Fit, or Shrink oversized pages (wording varies). Avoid Auto Rotate only if pages look sideways; keep orientation matching the manual.
You should see: Preview shows full page content inside the A4 margins with nothing cut off.
Print one test page
Print only the first page, check margins and readability, then print the rest if the test looks correct. Load A4 in the tray if the printer supports it.
You should see: The test page is readable on A4 without clipped edges or extreme empty borders.

Extra tips
What to look for: Paper Size set to A4, scale/Fit options in the print dialog, and whether the file is a PDF versus a webpage screenshot.
Before you change anything: Confirm you have the official PDF or owner’s manual, not a random download. Note whether your printer tray is loaded with A4 or Letter paper. Do not enter account passwords on unfamiliar “print driver update” sites.
