How do I get past a current subscription message when reinstalling Fitbit?

Answer

On the phone, open the Play Store profile and confirm you are signed into the same Google account that owns the Fitbit/Google Fitbit subscription. Then open the Fitbit app listing again or manage the subscription under Play Store Payments & subscriptions before retrying install.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Canceling a subscription is not required just to reinstall the app and may interrupt paid features.
  • Do not sideload Fitbit APKs from unknown sites to bypass Play Store messages.

Follow these steps

  1. Check the Google account in Play Store

Open the Play Store, tap the profile icon, and confirm the email matches the Google account that owns your Fitbit subscription. Switch accounts if needed.

You should see: Play Store is using the same Google account that previously managed Fitbit.

  2. Review the Fitbit-related subscription

In Play Store, open Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions and look for Fitbit Premium or related membership. Note whether it is active and under which account.

You should see: You see whether an active subscription is tied to this Google account.

  3. Retry the Fitbit app install

Return to the Fitbit app page in Play Store and choose Install or Enable. If the same subscription message appears, switch to the other Google account on the phone and try once more.

You should see: Fitbit installs or opens instead of staying on the subscription message.

  4. Sign into Fitbit with the matching account

Open Fitbit and sign in with the Google or Fitbit login that owns your tracker data and membership, then reconnect the watch or tracker.

You should see: The app launches past the membership prompt and syncs with your device.

Extra tips

What to look for: Play Store message about current subscription or membership, and which Google account is shown under the Play Store profile icon.

Before you change anything: Know which Google email originally bought or managed the Fitbit subscription. Do not cancel a subscription just to reinstall unless you intend to end billing. Charge the phone enough to complete downloads; a dead battery can interrupt install. Use only the official Fitbit app from Google Play.
