Follow these steps
Check Recently Deleted in Contacts
Open the Contacts app, go to Groups or Lists if shown, and open Recently Deleted. Select and recover any contacts that match the missing list.
You should see: Deleted contacts return to the main list, or Recently Deleted is empty.
Compare iCloud and Google contact toggles
Go to Settings, tap your Apple ID, open iCloud, and confirm Contacts is on. Then open Settings > Contacts or the Google account entry and see whether Google Contacts sync is also on.
You should see: You can see whether iCloud, Google, or both are supplying contacts to the phone.
Set the default contacts account
Go to Settings > Contacts > Default Account and choose iCloud if that is where the fuller list belongs. This helps new contacts stop saving only to Google.
