How do I fix FreeStyle Libre 3 loss of signal on Android?

Answer

Turn Bluetooth off and back on, open the FreeStyle Libre 3 app, keep the phone near the sensor, and wait a few minutes for readings to resume. If signal does not return, restart the phone and confirm Bluetooth permissions for the app.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Glucose treatment decisions should follow your clinician’s guidance, especially when sensor signal is missing.

Follow these steps

  1. Cycle Bluetooth

Turn Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on. Keep the phone near the sensor.

You should see: Bluetooth restarts cleanly on the phone.

  2. Reopen the Libre 3 app

Force-close the FreeStyle Libre 3 app if needed, open it again, and wait a few minutes for glucose readings to resume.

You should see: Signal returns and readings update, or the error remains.

  3. Restart the phone

Restart Android, confirm Bluetooth and location permissions for the Libre 3 app, then open the app again near the sensor.

You should see: The sensor reconnects after reboot.

  4. If it still will not reconnect

Check Abbott’s in-app help for sensor replacement guidance and contact FreeStyle support if the sensor remains silent until the next day of wear. Use fingerstick confirmation when the app advises it.

You should see: You either restore signal or get clear sensor-replacement guidance.

Extra tips

What to look for: Libre 3 loss-of-signal or will-not-reconnect messages on Android while the sensor should still be active.

Before you change anything: Keep the phone unlocked nearby during reconnection. Use only the official FreeStyle Libre 3 app. Do not remove a working sensor unless the manufacturer app instructs you to. Follow medical advice from your clinician for treatment decisions.
