How do I get Consumer Cellular service working in Canada when the phone shows No Service?
Answer
Turning on Data Roaming alone may not restore Consumer Cellular calls in Canada. Enable roaming options, turn Airplane Mode off, then try manual network selection for carriers such as Rogers, Bell, or Telus and restart the phone.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not share Consumer Cellular passwords or one-time codes with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly about roaming.
Follow these steps
Check the current status on one phone
Look at the status bar on one phone and note whether you see signal bars, SOS, or No Service before changing settings.
You should see: You know the starting status to compare after each change.
Turn off Airplane Mode and enable Data Roaming
Make sure Airplane Mode is off. Then go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options and turn Data Roaming on.
You should see: Roaming options are enabled and the phone can attempt foreign networks.
Try manual network selection
Go to Settings > Cellular > Network Selection, turn Automatic off, and try Rogers first. If that fails, try Bell or Telus and note which one connects or whether all fail.
You should see: The phone registers on a Canadian carrier, or every listed network fails to connect.
Restart after choosing a network
After a network connects or after all attempts fail, restart the phone once and check whether signal bars return for calls.
You should see: Service returns, or No Service remains after a clean restart.
Use Wi-Fi to reach Consumer Cellular if calls stay down
Connect to Wi-Fi and contact Consumer Cellular through the official app or website to confirm Canada roaming is active on the line. Share whether Rogers, Bell, and Telus all failed.
You should see: The carrier can enable roaming or explain why the line cannot attach in Canada.

Extra tips
What to look for: Status text such as No Service or SOS, and whether Settings > Cellular > Network Selection can see Rogers, Bell, or Telus.
Before you change anything: Confirm your Consumer Cellular plan includes Canada roaming before expecting calls to work. Try changes on one phone first if you have more than one line. Prefer Wi-Fi for account login or chat if cellular is down. Never share account passwords or codes with unexpected callers.
