How do I fix No Service on an iPhone after a mobile bill payment?

Answer

After a payment, No Service is often a carrier provisioning delay or a phone that lost network registration. Confirm the line is active with the carrier, then refresh cellular settings on the iPhone before resetting network settings.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Reset Network Settings erases saved Wi‑Fi passwords and VPN configurations on the iPhone.

Follow these steps

  1. Confirm the line is active after payment

Sign in to the carrier’s official account app or website and verify the line shows active or paid. If it still shows suspended, wait for provisioning or use the carrier’s official support chat/phone.

You should see: The account shows the line is active, or the carrier confirms reactivation is still processing.

  2. Turn the mobile line on

On the iPhone, open Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data) and make sure Cellular Data and the line toggle are turned on. Toggle Airplane Mode on for 15 seconds, then off.

You should see: The phone attempts to register on the network again.

  3. Refresh carrier information

Go to Settings > General > About and leave that screen open for about 30 seconds so the iPhone can update carrier settings if offered.

You should see: Carrier details appear, or a carrier settings update prompt appears.

  4. Reset Network Settings

If the account is active but the phone still shows No Service, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings, then rejoin Wi‑Fi afterward.

You should see: The iPhone restarts and tries to reconnect to cellular with fresh network settings.

  5. Contact the carrier if No Service continues

If the status bar still shows No Service after an active payment and network reset, contact the carrier to re-provision the SIM or eSIM on the line.

You should see: The carrier refreshes the line or replaces the SIM/eSIM profile so service returns.

Extra tips

What to look for: Status bar text such as No Service, SOS, or Searching, plus whether Wi‑Fi still works

Before you change anything: Confirm the payment posted with the carrier’s official app or account page. Note whether the status bar says No Service, SOS, or Searching. Back up Wi‑Fi passwords if you may reset network settings. Never share account PINs or one-time codes with unexpected callers claiming they can restore service.
