Why is there no Verizon service after a new phone setup?
Answer
New Verizon activations can take time to finish. Restart the phone, confirm the Verizon eSIM or SIM is listed and turned on in SIM Manager, then check the official Verizon app for the line status.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Stop if a site or popup asks you to pay to unlock service or install unknown software.
- Deleting an eSIM can remove the line from the phone and may require Verizon to send a new QR or profile.
Follow these steps
Restart the phone completely
Power the phone all the way off, wait about 30 seconds, then turn it back on and wait for the status bar to settle.
You should see: Service bars appear, or the phone still shows No Service / Searching with a clearer status.
Check Verizon in SIM Manager
Go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager. See whether a Verizon eSIM or SIM is listed and turned on. Do not remove or erase the eSIM yet.
You should see: You can tell if Verizon’s line is present and enabled on the phone.
Confirm the line in the Verizon app
Open or update the official Verizon app, sign in with the account used for signup, and check whether the new line or device appears and shows an activation status.
You should see: The app shows the line as active, still activating, or lists a specific error to act on.
Toggle the eSIM once if it is listed
If SIM Manager shows Verizon but service is still missing, turn the Verizon eSIM off, wait a few seconds, turn it back on, then restart the phone once more.
You should see: Cellular service connects, or the same No Service state remains after a clean retry.
Contact Verizon if still inactive
If 45–60 minutes have passed and the eSIM is on but there is still no service, contact Verizon support or return to the store with the account phone number and note any app error text.
You should see: Verizon can finish provisioning or replace a failed eSIM download.

Extra tips
What to look for: No Service or Searching status, whether a Verizon eSIM appears in Settings > Connections > SIM Manager, and any activation or error notices in the Verizon app.
Before you change anything: Confirm which phone and whether the tech used a physical SIM or eSIM. Do not delete the eSIM unless Verizon support instructs you to. Use only the official Verizon app or verizon.com. Never share account PINs or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
