How do I fix a Huawei GT 5 Pro that keeps disconnecting from an iPhone?

Answer

Update the HUAWEI Health app from the App Store, restart both the iPhone and the GT 5 Pro, then remove and re-pair the watch from inside HUAWEI Health rather than from iOS Bluetooth settings alone. Also keep Bluetooth on and allow Health background refresh so the link can stay active.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Removing and re-pairing the watch can reset some watch settings and require signing into HUAWEI Health again.

Follow these steps

  1. Update HUAWEI Health

On the iPhone, open the App Store, find HUAWEI Health, and install any available update. Open the app once after updating so permissions can refresh.

You should see: HUAWEI Health is on the latest App Store version and opens without crash loops.

  2. Restart iPhone and watch

Power off the GT 5 Pro and the iPhone, wait about 30 seconds, then turn both back on. Leave Bluetooth enabled on the iPhone.

You should see: Both devices boot cleanly and Bluetooth is available before you re-pair.

  3. Remove the watch in HUAWEI Health

In HUAWEI Health, open the GT 5 Pro device settings and remove or unbind the watch. If iPhone Bluetooth still lists the watch, forget that device there as well.

You should see: The watch no longer appears as paired in HUAWEI Health and is forgotten in iPhone Bluetooth if it was listed.

  4. Pair again from HUAWEI Health

Start add device or pair from inside HUAWEI Health, follow the on-watch confirmation, and allow any Bluetooth or notification prompts on the iPhone. Do not rely on connecting only from Settings > Bluetooth.

You should see: The GT 5 Pro shows as connected in HUAWEI Health and stays linked through normal use.

  5. Allow background connection

In iPhone Settings, confirm Bluetooth stays on, and for HUAWEI Health enable Background App Refresh and any notification or motion permissions the app requests. Wear the watch for a while and check whether half-hour dropouts return.

You should see: The connection remains stable longer, or you can tell dropouts persist and need Huawei support or a watch software update check.

Extra tips

What to look for: Connection drops about every 30 minutes, watch restarts or will not reconnect until re-added, and pairing status inside HUAWEI Health versus iPhone Bluetooth settings.

Before you change anything: Update HUAWEI Health before removing the watch if possible. Note that re-pairing may require signing into your Huawei account again and restoring some watch settings. Keep the watch charged during pairing. Never share account passwords or verification codes with unexpected callers.
