How do I finish a phone number transfer from Telstra to Kogan?
Answer
An unfinished Telstra-to-Kogan port usually means the Kogan SIM is not active yet, or the port is stuck waiting for the Kogan SIM card number. Confirm which SIM is in the phone, restart, check the carrier shown in Settings, and complete the port with Kogan using the SIM pack details if you still have them.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Removing the only working SIM before the new service is active can leave you without phone service.
Follow these steps
Confirm which SIM is installed
Open Settings and check Mobile, Cellular, or SIM status to see which carrier the installed SIM is using. Compare that with whether a Kogan SIM or Telstra SIM is physically in the tray.
You should see: You know which SIM is in the phone and which carrier name the phone reports.
Restart and test the Kogan network
If the Kogan SIM is installed, restart the phone and wait a few minutes, then check whether signal bars appear and whether a call or data connection works on the Kogan network.
You should see: The phone either connects to Kogan or clearly shows no service / wrong carrier.
Locate the Kogan SIM card number
If the transfer never completed, find the original Kogan SIM pack and write down the SIM card number printed on it. Porting usually needs that number.
You should see: You have the Kogan SIM card number, or you confirm the pack is missing.
Finish the port with Kogan
Contact Kogan Mobile support through their official website or app and ask them to complete the Telstra-to-Kogan number transfer using your account details and SIM card number.
You should see: Kogan confirms the port is in progress, completed, or blocked because a new SIM is required.
Request a replacement SIM if the pack is gone
If the Kogan SIM pack was lost or discarded, ask Kogan for a replacement SIM and pause further port attempts until that SIM arrives and is activated.
You should see: Kogan issues a replacement path, or clearly explains what is still needed to finish the transfer.

Extra tips
What to look for: Whether the phone shows Kogan or Telstra as the carrier, whether the Kogan SIM is still in its pack with a readable SIM card number, and whether calls or data work at all.
Before you change anything: Keep the Kogan SIM pack if you still have it. Note whether you currently have any voice or data service. Do not discard the old Telstra SIM until the new service is confirmed working. Never share account passwords or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
