How do I fix a Tempur-Pedic adjustable bed when the head or foot will not raise?
Answer
When the head or foot will not raise, start with a power reset: unplug the base for 60 seconds, reseat loose cables under the bed, then turn off Child Lock on the remote. If motors hum but the deck does not move, check for pinched cords or a stuck mechanism before arranging service.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Keep hands and cords clear of moving parts while testing head and foot articulation.
- Unplug the base before reconnecting control-box or actuator cables.
Follow these steps
Power-cycle the base
Press any Flat or Stop control if available, then unplug the adjustable base from the wall outlet for a full 60 seconds. Plug it back into the same working outlet (avoid a dead power strip) and wait a few seconds.
You should see: The base powers up again and the remote can wake or light as usual.
Check cables under the bed
With the base unplugged, look under the frame at the control box and actuators. Reseat any loose connectors and free cords that are pinched by the frame or hanging hardware. Plug the base back in.
You should see: All connectors are fully seated and no cord is trapped where the deck moves.
Turn off Child Lock
On the remote, turn off Child Lock using the combination in your model’s guide (often a dedicated lock button or a hold of a lock key until the indicator changes). Then try Head Up and Foot Up separately.
You should see: Child Lock is off and at least one of head or foot responds to the remote.
Test each section and the remote
Replace remote batteries if the backlight is weak. Test head and foot one at a time. If you have a wired backup button on the control box, try that next to see whether the remote or the motor path is at fault.
You should see: You know whether the problem is remote-only, one actuator, or the whole base.
Contact support if it still will not raise
If power, cables, and Child Lock are fine but the head or foot still will not raise, note any error beeps or LED flashes and contact Tempur-Pedic or the base manufacturer for warranty service. Stop using a motor that grinds or smells hot.
You should see: You have symptom details ready for support, or the base is scheduled for repair.

Extra tips
What to look for: Remote backlight or LED response, Child Lock indicators, humming motors without movement, and loose plugs at the control box under the bed.
Before you change anything: Clear people and pets off the bed before testing movement. Unplug the base before inspecting wiring under the frame. Do not cut or splice actuator cables. Keep the remote’s battery fresh so you are not debugging a dead remote.
