Why is the Phone app screen blank on an iPhone?
Answer
A blank Phone app screen on iPhone is often fixed with a forced restart. Also check that a thick case or screen protector is not covering the top earpiece area, then reopen the Phone app.
Follow these steps
Force-restart the iPhone
Quickly press and release Volume Up, then Volume Down. Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears, then let go. Do not slide to power off unless the logo never appears after about 20–30 seconds.
You should see: The iPhone restarts and returns to the Lock screen.
Reopen the Phone app
Unlock the iPhone and open Phone. Check Favorites, Recents, and Contacts to see whether the screen is still blank.
You should see: The Phone app shows its normal tabs and lists, or a clearer error you can read.
Clear the earpiece area
If the screen is still blank or calls behave oddly, remove the case and any screen protector that covers the top front near the earpiece, then try Phone again.
You should see: The Phone app displays normally, or call audio and proximity sensing improve.
Update iOS if available
If the blank Phone screen returns, go to Settings > General > Software Update and install any official update when connected to Wi-Fi and power.
You should see: An update installs, or you confirm the iPhone is already up to date.

Extra tips
What to look for: A white or empty Phone app screen, Recents/Contacts that do not load, and whether the issue started after a case or screen-protector change.
Before you change anything: Note whether only the Phone app is blank or the whole phone is unresponsive. Do not erase the iPhone or restore from a random link to “fix calling.” Use Apple’s official restart steps for your model. Never share your passcode or Apple ID codes with unexpected callers.
