How do I move a SiriusXM subscription to a new car?

Answer

Activate or transfer SiriusXM using the new car’s Radio ID, usually shown on channel 0, then leave the radio on outside until the subscription update finishes.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Do not share account passwords or payment details with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly about transferring the radio plan.

Follow these steps

  1. Find the new car’s Radio ID

In the Malibu, tune to SiriusXM channel 0 and note the Radio ID shown on screen.

You should see: You have the Radio ID needed for activation or transfer.

  2. Start activation or transfer on the official SiriusXM path

Use the SiriusXM website, app, or official activation line with the new Radio ID and your existing account or trial details.

You should see: SiriusXM accepts the request and begins updating the new radio.

  3. Leave the radio on outdoors

Park outside, keep the ignition or accessory power on, and leave SiriusXM playing for several minutes after activation.

You should see: Full channels return, or subscription-updated and preview-only messages clear.

  4. Retry if only preview or no signal remains

If the radio still shows no signal or only the preview channel after several minutes, cycle the car power, confirm you are outdoors, and recheck channel 0 status before contacting SiriusXM support.

You should see: Service activates, or you have a clear status message to give support.

Extra tips

What to look for: Radio ID on channel 0, messages such as subscription updated or no signal, and whether only a preview channel plays

Before you change anything: Park outside with a clear sky view when activating satellite radio. Write down the Radio ID from channel 0 before calling or using online activation. Confirm whether the old Toyota trial or paid plan should be transferred or ended. Do not share account passwords with unexpected callers offering activation help.
