How do I sign in to Facebook on a new phone?

Answer

Install the official Facebook app or use a browser, sign in with the correct email/phone and password, and complete any two-factor or login-approval prompt on an old device or recovery method. If nothing obvious fails, use Facebook’s Get help finding your account / password reset with the email or number on the profile.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Never send Facebook login codes to someone who messages or calls you unexpectedly.

Follow these steps

  1. Try official login with known credentials

Open the official Facebook app, enter the email/phone and password you normally use, and watch for a specific error or approval prompt.

You should see: Either you get in, or you see a clear password/2FA message.

  2. Approve login from another device

If Facebook sends a login approval to an old phone or email, approve it there, then return to the new phone.

You should see: The new phone finishes sign-in.

  3. Reset the password if needed

Use Forgotten password / Get help finding your account on Facebook’s official flow, then set a new password via email or SMS you control.

You should see: You can sign in on the new phone with the new password.

  4. Check for saved wrong autofill

If it still fails silently, clear the saved wrong password in the keyboard/password manager and type credentials carefully.

You should see: Login succeeds without autofill substituting an old password.

Extra tips

What to look for: Password error vs silent failure, login approval notifications on old devices, and which email/phone is tied to the Facebook account.

Before you change anything: Use the official Facebook app from Play Store/App Store. Have access to the account email and old phone if possible. Do not share codes with unexpected callers. Avoid unofficial “Facebook unlock” websites.
