Accounts & Passwords

How do I sign in to a Microsoft account to update vehicle details?

Answer

Vehicle portals that use Microsoft sign-in need the correct Microsoft email and the current password for that account. If you recently changed the password, wait a few minutes, sign in only on the official site, and use Microsoft’s Forgot password flow if the new password still fails.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Stop if a site or popup asks you to pay to unlock the account or install unknown software.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the official sign-in page

Open the manufacturer or vehicle portal from a bookmark or by typing the official address, then choose Sign in. Avoid links from unexpected emails or texts.

You should see: You see a Microsoft or manufacturer sign-in screen with an email field.

  2. Enter the correct Microsoft email

Type the Microsoft email that was used when the vehicle account was created. If you have more than one Microsoft account, try the one tied to billing or the car app first.

You should see: The page asks for that account’s password or a verification method.

  3. Sign in with the current password

Enter the latest Microsoft password carefully, watching Caps Lock and saved autofill. If you just changed it, wait a few minutes and try again before assuming it failed permanently.

You should see: You reach the vehicle account page, or you get a clear wrong-password message.

  4. Use official Forgot password if needed

If the password is rejected, click Forgot password? on the official Microsoft sign-in page and complete recovery with your recovery email or phone. Do not use third-party “unlock” sites.

You should see: Microsoft lets you set a new password and return to sign-in.

  5. Update the vehicle details after sign-in

Once signed in, open the profile or vehicle section and enter the new car details or replacement card information, then save.

You should see: The vehicle or payment details save without a sign-in error.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether the page shows "Forgot password?" or "Wrong password," and which Microsoft email is linked to the vehicle account

Before you change anything: Confirm the exact Microsoft email used for the car or manufacturer account. Use only the official manufacturer or Microsoft sign-in page—not links from unexpected texts or ads. If you changed the password recently, have access to the recovery email or phone. Never share passwords or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
