How do you add a Microsoft Exchange account back on an iPhone 15 Pro?

Answer

Open iPhone Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Microsoft Exchange, sign in with the work or school email, and approve modern authentication prompts from your organization.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Do not share your work Microsoft password or MFA codes with unexpected callers.
  • Removing and re-adding Exchange can temporarily remove offline cached mail from the iPhone.

Follow these steps

  1. Open Add Account in iOS Settings

Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account and choose Microsoft Exchange.

You should see: The Exchange setup screen asks for your email.

  2. Sign in with the work email

Enter the Exchange email address, tap Next, then Sign In when iOS offers Microsoft login rather than manual configure if available.

You should see: A Microsoft organizational login page appears.

  3. Complete MFA and permissions

Approve the authenticator prompt or SMS/company MFA, then allow Mail, Contacts, and Calendars as needed.

You should see: iOS shows account toggles for Mail and related data.

  4. Save and wait for sync

Tap Save, open the Mail app, and pull to refresh the Exchange inbox.

You should see: Work email messages begin appearing.

  5. Use Outlook or contact IT if automatic setup fails

If Exchange setup errors persist, install Microsoft Outlook from the App Store and sign in there, or ask IT whether device enrollment is required.

You should see: Mail opens in Outlook or IT provides the required enrollment steps.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether Settings offers Microsoft Exchange versus Outlook app sign-in, and any company portal or authenticator prompt.

Before you change anything: Have your work email and Microsoft password ready. Install Microsoft Authenticator if your organization requires it. Ask IT for any special server settings only if automatic setup fails.
