How can I tell if a SolarEdge system is working?

Answer

Check the mySolarEdge app or monitoring site for recent energy production and inverter status, and look at the inverter for normal indicator lights without persistent faults. Daytime production near zero with a fault code usually means the system needs service attention.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Solar inverters involve high voltage. Do not open the enclosure or touch wiring unless you are a qualified technician.

Follow these steps

  1. Open mySolarEdge monitoring

Open the official mySolarEdge app or SolarEdge monitoring website and sign in to the site account tied to your system.

You should see: The dashboard loads with site status and energy charts.

  2. Check recent energy production

Look at today's and recent production values during daylight. Compare with a prior sunny day if available.

You should see: You see normal daytime production, unusually low production, or zero production.

  3. Review inverter status and alerts

Open Menu or device details, then Inverter Status or Alerts. Note any error codes, communication loss, or warnings shown for the inverter.

You should see: Status looks normal, or you have a specific alert or code to report.

  4. Connect locally if monitoring is blank

If the cloud dashboard shows no data, use mySolarEdge inverter connection options and the barcode or QR label on the inverter only as the official app instructs. Do not dismantle the unit.

You should see: Local inverter status appears, or you confirm the inverter needs installer service.

  5. Call your installer if production stays at zero

If daytime production remains at zero with a fault light or alert, contact the solar installer or SolarEdge support with the inverter serial number and exact alert text.

You should see: A technician can interpret the fault and schedule service if needed.

Extra tips

What to look for: Recent energy production values in mySolarEdge, inverter status or alerts, and any warning lights or fault indicators on the inverter.

Before you change anything: Check production during daylight hours when the panels should be generating. Use the official mySolarEdge app or SolarEdge monitoring login. Do not open the inverter enclosure yourself unless you are a qualified technician. Never share monitoring passwords with unexpected callers.
