What should I do if an iPhone 15 Pro Max is stolen?
Answer
Use Find My to keep the iPhone in Lost Mode if it still appears, change Apple ID and important account passwords, and contact your carrier to suspend service. If Find My already says the phone was erased, Activation Lock can still protect it when you keep the Apple ID in place.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not share Apple ID passwords or one-time codes with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.
Follow these steps
Secure the iPhone in Find My
Sign into iCloud.com/find or Find Devices, select the iPhone 15 Pro Max, turn on Mark As Lost if available, and leave Activation Lock enabled. If it already shows erased, keep it in your account list for now.
You should see: The device is locked to your Apple ID and shows a lost-mode or erased status you can monitor.
Change Apple ID and key account passwords
On appleid.apple.com, change the Apple ID password and review devices and sign-in locations. Also change passwords for banking, email, and other apps that may have been unlocked on the phone.
You should see: Old sessions are less useful to a thief and your Apple ID is secured.
Suspend service with the carrier
Sign into your carrier account or start official chat/support, report the phone stolen, and ask to suspend the line or block the IMEI according to their process. For Spectrum Mobile, use the Spectrum account site or app chat from a computer if needed.
You should see: The stolen phone can no longer place calls or use your plan normally.
Start replacement and insurance steps
Ask the carrier or insurer about next steps for a replacement device, and file a police report if your claim requires one. Keep claim and ticket numbers.
You should see: You have a clear path to a new phone and documented claim details.

Extra tips
What to look for: Find My status such as offline, lost, or erased, and whether the phone number still rings or receives texts
Before you change anything: Have your Apple ID email ready and recover it on official Apple sites if needed. Note the IMEI from the original box, receipt, or carrier account if available. Do not remove the device from your Apple ID until you are sure you will not need Activation Lock protection. Report the theft to local police if required for insurance.
