Why does a prepaid number show as not existing for account recovery?

Prepaid numbers that were recycled or never verified cannot receive codes. Update the recovery phone using a number you control, and save the full number with country code.

Follow these steps
Test the prepaid line
Check prepaid account status and try texting the number from another phone.
You should see: You confirm the number is active or disconnected.
Fix number formatting
In account mobile settings, save the full number with country and area code.
You should see: The service accepts the number format.
Update recovery contacts
While signed in, add a working phone or backup email and remove the dead number.
You should see: Security settings show contact methods you can use.
Use email recovery if locked out
Choose email recovery on the provider’s official forgot-password page.
You should see: A reset link arrives in the working inbox.
