Why won't a Tactical Traps shelf open with the RFID card?
Answer
These shelves often fail to latch or open because of low lock batteries, a needed reboot after battery changes, or a sticky lock pin—not a broken RFID card alone.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Support the shelf before releasing the lock so contents cannot fall.
Follow these steps
Swipe and listen
Hold the RFID card steady over the reader and listen for motor or solenoid activity. Note whether the shelf moves at all.
You should see: You know if the electronics respond or stay completely dead.
Try the manufacturer reboot procedure
If the shelf opens but will not latch, follow Tactical Traps’ reboot steps such as removing all AAA batteries and leaving the shelf open for the stated wait time before reinstalling fresh batteries.
You should see: The shelf latches and opens normally after reboot, or the fault remains.
Change internal lock batteries via the lock pin method
Follow the official 'remove the lock pin to change lock batteries' instructions carefully, replace with fresh AAA cells in the correct orientation, and reassemble.
You should see: Fresh internal power restores RFID unlock.
Contact Tactical Traps if still stuck
If there is no motor sound after new batteries, contact the manufacturer for lock service rather than forcing the mechanism.
