Why won’t my iPhone 15 Mail app receive new Gmail messages?
Answer
Check Mail account fetch/push settings, confirm Gmail sign-in is still valid, and toggle Mail off/on for the account in Settings. On iPhone 15, most Gmail delays are expired Google authentication or Fetch set too infrequently.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not enter your Google password on a phishing page opened from an unexpected email.
- Removing the account from iOS Mail deletes local Mail downloads for that account on the phone, not your Gmail on Google’s servers.
Follow these steps
Refresh and check account alerts
Open Mail, pull to refresh the Gmail inbox, then go to Settings > Mail > Accounts and open the Gmail account for any sign-in or password warning.
You should see: Either mail appears or you see a clear authentication problem.
Fix Fetch/Push settings
Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Fetch New Data and enable Push where available, or set Fetch to Automatically/More Frequently, then open Mail again.
You should see: New Gmail messages begin arriving more promptly.
Re-authenticate Gmail
In the Gmail account settings, turn Mail off and on, or complete Google sign-in again if prompted.
You should see: The account shows as signed in without errors.
Remove and re-add Gmail if needed
Remove the Gmail account from Settings > Mail > Accounts, restart the iPhone, add Gmail again with Google login, and test a new message to yourself.
You should see: Fresh Gmail setup receives new mail in the Mail app.

Extra tips
What to look for: Re-enter password prompts, Push/Fetch settings, and whether Gmail arrives in the Gmail app or website
Before you change anything: Confirm Gmail opens on the web with the same account. Note whether only one account on the iPhone is affected. Do not delete the Gmail account from Google—only remove it from iOS Mail if re-adding. Keep the iPhone on Wi‑Fi or reliable cellular while testing.
