How do I check whether a scam caller's number is still saved or reachable on my phone?

A scam number can remain in several places: recent call history, contacts (if accidentally saved), blocked-number lists, or message threads. Checking each location separately is the reliable way to confirm it is fully removed.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not call the number back to check it; this can confirm the line is active to the scammer.
- If payment or personal information was already shared, contact the bank or card issuer in addition to blocking the number.
Follow these steps
Check recent call history
Open the Phone app, tap Recents, and look for the number, then press and hold or swipe on it to delete it from the log if found.
You should see: The number no longer appears in the recent calls list.
Check saved contacts
Open Contacts and search for the number or an unfamiliar name that might match it, since scam numbers are sometimes auto-saved by other apps.
You should see: This confirms whether the number exists as a saved contact, and it can be deleted if found.
Check message threads
Open the Messages app and look through recent conversations for the same number, since a scam call is often paired with a text.
You should see: Any related message thread is located and can be deleted or reported as spam.
Block the number
From the Recents list or the contact card, choose the option to block the caller, usually labeled 'Block this Caller' or found in Settings under Blocked Numbers.
