How do I reset a forgotten voicemail password on a Samsung Galaxy phone?
Answer
If Visual Voicemail has no reset option, open the Phone or Visual Voicemail app settings for Change PIN / Reset, or contact your carrier (for example Rogers) to reset the voicemail password from the account side. Carriers control the voicemail PIN when the phone menu does not offer Forgot password.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Stop if a site or popup asks you to pay to unlock voicemail or install unknown software.
- A phone factory reset usually will not reset carrier voicemail and can erase phone data.
Follow these steps
Check Phone and Visual Voicemail settings
Open the Phone app, then Settings, and look for Voicemail, Visual Voicemail, Change PIN, or Reset. Also open any Rogers or carrier Visual Voicemail app and check its Settings for the same options.
You should see: You either find a PIN change/reset control or confirm those menus are missing.
Try the carrier visual voicemail reset path
If a Change PIN or Reset voicemail option appears, follow it while on mobile data or Wi-Fi as directed by the app. Set a new PIN you will remember and store it somewhere safe.
You should see: The app accepts a new voicemail PIN and calling voicemail works with that PIN.
Reset through the carrier account
If the phone has no Forgot password path, sign in to your carrier account online or call carrier support and ask them to reset the voicemail password/PIN for your number.
You should see: The carrier resets voicemail access and tells you the temporary PIN or how to set a new one.
Confirm by calling voicemail again
Dial your voicemail shortcut or hold 1, enter the new PIN, and change it again if the carrier gave only a temporary code.
You should see: Voicemail opens and you can listen to or delete messages.

Extra tips
What to look for: Incorrect password prompts when calling voicemail, missing Forgot password options, and any Change PIN or Reset setting in Phone or Visual Voicemail apps.
Before you change anything: Confirm your mobile carrier and whether Visual Voicemail is installed. Have your account PIN or online carrier login ready for support. Do not factory reset the phone only to fix voicemail access. Never share voicemail or account codes with unexpected callers.
