How do I find a lost Android phone with Google or Samsung Find?

Sign in to Google Find My Device (or Samsung Find My Mobile for Samsung phones) on another device, check the last seen time and location, then use Lock or Mark as lost so a finder sees a contact message. Avoid Erase or factory reset until you are sure the phone will not be recovered.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Stop before Erase or factory reset unless you accept that the phone may become unrecoverable and data will be wiped.
- Ignore sites or callers that ask you to pay a fee to locate or unlock a phone.
Follow these steps
Open official Find My Device
On another device, go to google.com/android/find (or open Samsung Find My Mobile for a Samsung phone) and sign in with the same account used on the missing phone. Confirm the correct device name appears in the list.
You should see: You see the phone listed with a last seen time and, if available, a map location.
Lock the phone if the option is available
Choose Lock (or similar) and set a contact number or short message a finder can see on the lock screen. Do not choose Erase yet.
You should see: The phone is locked remotely, or you get a clear message that the command will apply when the phone is next online.
Mark the phone as lost
Use Mark as lost (or Lost mode) so the device stays locked and shows your contact info. Recheck the map later for an updated location.
You should see: The device shows as lost/locked and continues to report location updates when online.
Contact local help if location is clear
If the map shows a place you can safely check (home, workplace, recent store), look there or ask staff. If the phone appears stolen, contact local authorities with the IMEI from your account or packaging when you have it.
You should see: You have a next action based on the last known location without wiping the device early.
