How do I fix a Keurig K-Duo that shows an error?

Answer

For many Keurig K-Duo errors, unplug the machine for about 30 minutes, reseat the water tank, and plug it directly into a wall outlet. If it still brews cold water, stops early, or flashes multiple lights, the machine may need descale service or replacement.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Unplug the machine before wiping tank contacts or internal spills.

Follow these steps

  1. Unplug for a full reset

Turn the K-Duo off, unplug it for 30 minutes, then plug it directly into a wall outlet rather than a power strip.

You should see: The machine powers on without the previous error, or the error returns.

  2. Remove and reseat the water tank

Lift off the reservoir, clean the base contacts, refill with fresh water, and seat it firmly until it sits flush.

You should see: The machine recognizes the tank and allows a brew cycle.

  3. Run a plain water brew test

Lift the handle without a pod or follow the model’s cleansing brew steps, then start a water-only brew into a mug.

You should see: Hot water dispenses fully, or the brew fails again with the same error.

  4. Descale or plan replacement

If the manual’s descale light or instructions apply, run a full descale. If it still gives cold water, stops early, and flashes multiple lights after that, contact Keurig support about service or replacement.

You should see: Either brewing returns to normal or you confirm a hardware failure path.

Extra tips

What to look for: Any specific error wording or light pattern, whether the water tank is seated, and whether the brew is cold or incomplete.

Before you change anything: Empty and wipe the tank base so contacts are clean and dry. Use a wall outlet rather than a questionable power strip. Have descaling solution ready if the manual indicates descale mode. Unplug before deep cleaning.
