Why won’t my Keurig coffee maker power on or show any lights?

Answer

No lights usually means the machine is not receiving power from the outlet, a tripped GFCI/breaker, or the brewer needs a short power reset. Check the outlet and GFCI first, then unplug the Keurig for several minutes before trying again.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Do not open the housing or bypass internal fuses; that can create a shock hazard and void the warranty.
  • Stop using the machine if the cord is frayed, scorched, or smells like burning.

Follow these steps

  1. Test the outlet

Plug a lamp or phone charger into the same outlet. If that device is also dead, move the Keurig to a known-working outlet.

You should see: You confirm whether the problem is the outlet or the Keurig itself.

  2. Reset a tripped GFCI or breaker

Check nearby kitchen GFCI outlets (often with Reset/Test buttons) and the breaker panel for a tripped circuit. Press Reset on the GFCI or switch the breaker fully off and back on.

You should see: The outlet has power again when you retest with another device.

  3. Power-reset the Keurig

Unplug the Keurig from the wall for at least 5 minutes, leave the power button alone, then plug it directly into the wall and try powering on.

You should see: Lights appear on the brewer, or it remains completely dark.

  4. Check the auto-off and power button

If any light returns, make sure the machine is not sitting in a sleep/auto-off state and firmly press the power control described in your model’s manual.

You should see: The Keurig wakes and is ready to brew, or stays unresponsive.

  5. Contact Keurig support if it stays dead

If a working outlet and a 5-minute unplug reset still produce no lights, use Keurig’s official support/warranty page with your model and purchase date for repair or replacement options.

You should see: You have a clear warranty or replacement path for a non-powering machine.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether other devices work in the same outlet, whether a nearby GFCI outlet or breaker has tripped, and whether any light appears after a full unplug reset.

Before you change anything: Confirm the exact Keurig model from the sticker on the bottom or back. Do not open the machine or bypass safety fuses. Keep the reservoir and internals dry while you test power. Unplug the machine before inspecting the cord or outlet.
