What can I do if my Sceptre TV has no optical audio port?
Answer
Many Sceptre TVs ship without an optical port. Use HDMI ARC/eARC to a compatible soundbar if available, or a digital audio converter from HDMI or headphone/aux output if your model only has those connections.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Unplug the TV and soundbar before forcing connectors; damaged ports are easy to break on thin panels.
Follow these steps
Confirm optical is truly missing
Inspect every panel on the TV for a square optical (DIGITAL AUDIO OUT) jack. Also open the owner’s manual or Sceptre’s specs page for your exact model and look under audio outputs.
You should see: You confirm the model has no optical port, so you need an alternate audio path.
Prefer HDMI ARC when available
If a TV HDMI port is labeled ARC or eARC, connect that port to the soundbar’s HDMI ARC/eARC input with a high-speed HDMI cable. In the TV audio settings, set the digital output or speakers option to the external HDMI/ARC device.
You should see: TV sound plays through the soundbar over HDMI ARC without an optical cable.
Use aux or RCA if that is all the TV offers
If the TV only has a headphone jack or red/white RCA audio out, connect those to the matching inputs on the soundbar or speakers and set the soundbar input to Aux or Analog.
You should see: External speakers play TV audio, even without optical or ARC.
Add a converter only if needed
If your soundbar requires optical and the TV has none, use a supported path such as HDMI audio extractor or the converter type that matches a port you actually have. Match product specs to your TV outputs before purchasing.
You should see: You have a concrete cable or adapter plan that matches both devices.
Set TV speakers and test volume
In TV sound settings, turn TV speakers off or set audio to external, then play a show and raise volume on both the TV and the soundbar to confirm which device controls loudness.
You should see: Audio is clear on the external speakers and the TV is not fighting the soundbar for volume.

Extra tips
What to look for: Whether the TV has HDMI ARC/eARC labels, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, RCA audio out, or only HDMI and no optical jack at all.
Before you change anything: Check the exact Sceptre model number on the back sticker or in Settings > System. Confirm what inputs your soundbar or speakers accept (optical, HDMI ARC, aux, Bluetooth). Unplug power before rearranging cables if you are moving heavy equipment. Do not buy cables until you match the actual ports on both devices.
