How do I improve or expand Mobile Hotspot on a Samsung Galaxy S24?

Answer

Start in Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering, confirm hotspot is on and not blocked by a data limit, then cycle hotspot, restart the S24, and toggle Airplane Mode. Extra hotspot allowance often requires a plan change with the carrier, not only a phone setting.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Avoid apps or websites that claim to unlock unlimited hotspot for a fee outside your carrier.

Follow these steps

  1. Open Mobile Hotspot settings

On the S24, go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot and confirm the hotspot toggle and connected-device list.

You should see: You see whether hotspot is on and if any limit or connected-device message appears.

  2. Check for a data-limit notice

Look in the hotspot screen and carrier app for messages about hotspot data used up or throttled. If the allotment is exhausted, plan changes are required for more hotspot data.

You should see: You know whether the issue is a plan cap versus a phone setting problem.

  3. Cycle the hotspot

Turn Mobile Hotspot off, wait about 20 seconds, then turn it back on and reconnect the other device.

You should see: The hotspot reappears cleanly and other devices can join again.

  4. Restart the S24

Power the phone off fully, wait a few seconds, turn it back on, then re-enable Mobile Hotspot.

You should see: Hotspot starts after reboot without immediate slowdown or drop.

  5. Refresh the mobile radio

Turn Airplane mode on for about 30 seconds, turn it off, wait for signal bars, then test hotspot speed again with one device connected.

You should see: Signal returns and hotspot performance improves, or the limit/throttle remains and points to the carrier plan.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether Mobile Hotspot shows on, any notice about a data limit being reached, and how many devices are connected

Before you change anything: Confirm which carrier plan includes hotspot and whether the monthly hotspot allotment is already used. Note your current hotspot password before changing security settings. Avoid public “free hotspot booster” apps or paid unlock links. Do not share account codes with unexpected callers.
