How do I fix a Booking.com payment that my bank blocked?

Answer

After a bank fraud block is cleared, return to the official Booking.com reservation and try the payment again, or add a different card or payment method right away. If Booking.com still cannot charge the card, contact Booking.com support from the booking itself while the reservation window remains open.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Treat unexpected “pay now to keep your booking” links as possible scams unless they open inside your Booking.com account.

Follow these steps

  1. Confirm the bank will allow the charge

Check the bank message or app to confirm the fraud block on the Mastercard is lifted for Booking.com, and that online or international payments are enabled if your bank uses those controls.

You should see: You know the card should be chargeable again, or you know the bank still needs another approval.

  2. Retry payment on the official booking

Sign in at Booking.com, open the reservation, and use the official pay or update-payment option for that booking. Do not enter card details on an unexpected email link.

You should see: The payment succeeds, or Booking.com shows a clear failure reason.

  3. Use another payment method if needed

If the same Mastercard still fails, add a different card or supported payment method on the booking immediately so the reservation is not canceled for non-payment.

You should see: A successful charge completes, or you see which methods Booking.com will accept.

  4. Contact Booking.com from the reservation

If payment still fails after the bank clearance, use Booking.com help or messaging from inside the booking, explain that the bank block was lifted, and ask them to retry or advise the next payment step.

You should see: Support confirms whether the booking can still be paid and what to do next.

Extra tips

What to look for: Bank notices that the payment block is lifted, plus Booking.com messages about failed payment, incomplete booking, or a deadline to complete payment.

Before you change anything: Open Booking.com from a bookmark or typed address, not from a payment email link you distrust. Have the reservation number ready. Confirm with your bank that online payments for Booking.com are allowed again. Never send card numbers by email or chat to unexpected contacts.
