How do I fix an iPhone that stopped working after switching to Visible?

Answer

After a Visible switch, iPhones often need a carrier settings update, network refresh, and Wi‑Fi Calling re-enabled. Airplane Mode, waiting on Settings > General > About for a carrier update, then restarting usually completes activation.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Deleting the wrong eSIM can remove your phone line until it is reissued.

Follow these steps

  1. Refresh the cellular connection

Turn Airplane Mode on for about 30 seconds, then turn it off and wait for the carrier name or signal to return.

You should see: The status bar updates, or you still see a clear No Service / SOS state to troubleshoot next.

  2. Check for a carrier settings update

Go to Settings > General > About and stay on that screen for about 30 seconds. If a Carrier Settings Update appears, install it.

You should see: Any available carrier update installs, or no prompt appears after waiting.

  3. Restart the iPhone

Power the iPhone fully off, wait about 30 seconds, turn it back on, and check Settings > Cellular for the Visible line.

You should see: The Visible plan appears enabled and the phone begins registering on the network.

  4. Re-enable Wi‑Fi Calling if you use it

Go to Settings > Cellular or Settings > Phone and open Wi‑Fi Calling. Turn Wi‑Fi Calling on again if it was disabled during the carrier change, then test a call.

You should see: Wi‑Fi Calling shows as on, or calls work over cellular without it.

  5. Confirm the plan in Visible and Cellular settings

In Settings > Cellular, confirm the Visible SIM or eSIM is on and selected for voice and data. If the line is missing or still inactive, finish activation in the official Visible app or website.

You should see: The Visible line is present and active, or Visible support can see a provisioning issue to fix.

Extra tips

What to look for: No Service, SOS, or missing LTE/5G after a recent move to Visible, plus any Carrier Settings Update prompt

Before you change anything: Confirm the Visible transfer or eSIM install already shows as complete in your Visible account. Note the exact status-bar message before changing settings. Stay on Wi‑Fi if you need the Visible app or QR/eSIM steps. Never share account passwords or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
