How do I transfer a phone number to a new iPhone on Visible?

Answer

On Visible, a new iPhone usually gets the number by installing Visible’s eSIM during setup or from the Visible app after account verification. Back up the old iPhone first, then complete Visible’s transfer or replace-eSIM steps if the eSIM cannot move automatically.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Deleting the old eSIM too early can interrupt service until the new eSIM finishes activating.

Follow these steps

  1. Back up the old iPhone

On the old iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, and turn on iCloud Backup if it is off. Start a backup and wait until it finishes, or back up to a computer. Check iCloud storage under the same iCloud screen if backup fails for lack of space.

You should see: A recent backup completes, or you knowingly choose to set up the new iPhone without restoring data.

  2. Set up the new iPhone

Power on the new iPhone and complete initial setup. Connect to Wi‑Fi. Choose to restore from your backup if you want your apps and settings, or set up as new if you prefer a clean start.

You should see: The new iPhone reaches the Home Screen and is signed into your Apple ID if you use one.

  3. Activate Visible on the new iPhone

Open the Visible app, sign in to the account that owns the number, and follow Transfer, Activate, or Replace eSIM for this device. Complete any account verification Visible requests if the eSIM cannot move automatically.

You should see: Visible installs the eSIM and the status bar shows Visible cellular service, or you get a specific activation error.

  4. Confirm calls and data

Open Settings > Cellular and confirm the Visible plan is on. Place a test call and check mobile data. If service is missing, toggle Airplane Mode, restart the iPhone, then retry Replace eSIM in the Visible app.

You should see: The number works for calls and data on the new iPhone.

Extra tips

What to look for: Visible app prompts about eSIM transfer, Replace eSIM, or account verification, and Cellular status on the new iPhone

Before you change anything: Sign in to the Visible account that owns the number. Back up the old iPhone with iCloud or a computer if you need apps and data. Keep Wi‑Fi available on the new iPhone for eSIM download. Do not delete the old eSIM until the new iPhone shows service, unless Visible’s on-screen steps say to.
