How do I verify whether a game purchase was made on an account?

Answer

Check the official purchase history for the store that would have billed the game—PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam, or mobile—using the account that can buy content on that device. Look for the game title, date, and amount; also check the linked card or email receipts for a matching charge.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Do not use unofficial websites that claim they can look up purchases after you enter passwords or payment details.

Follow these steps

  1. Identify the store that could have charged

Determine whether the game would have been bought on PlayStation Store, Microsoft/Xbox, Nintendo eShop, Steam, Epic, Google Play, or the App Store based on the device the grandson uses.

You should see: You know which store’s purchase history to open.

  2. Open official purchase history

Sign into that store’s account settings or transaction history on the console, PC, or official website. Search recent orders for the game name (for example MLB 26) and note the date and price.

You should see: You either find a matching purchase or confirm it is not in that account’s history.

  3. Cross-check email and bank charges

Search the account email for order confirmations and check the linked card or PayPal for a matching store charge around the same time.

You should see: Receipt and bank records agree with what purchase history shows.

  4. Tighten purchasing controls if needed

If a purchase is confirmed and was unauthorized, use the store’s parental controls or require a password/PIN for every buy, and follow the store’s official refund or dispute process.

You should see: Future purchases need approval, and you have a path to request a refund if eligible.

Extra tips

What to look for: Purchase history entries for the game title, order confirmation emails, and bank/card descriptors that match the store—not third-party “purchase check” websites.

Before you change anything: Know which console, PC store, or phone was used. Use only the official store account settings for purchase history. Do not share the account password with the child while reviewing history if you need to keep control of billing. Never give remote access to strangers offering to “find the charge.”
