How do I unlock a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra after forgetting the PIN?

Answer

If you forgot the PIN on a Galaxy S23 Ultra, try any remaining biometric unlock if it still works, then use Find My Mobile or Google Find My Device while the phone is online to unlock or erase it with the Samsung or Google account already on the device. A factory reset removes the PIN but usually requires the same Google account afterward because of Factory Reset Protection.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • A factory reset or remote erase deletes local data that was not backed up.
  • After a reset, Factory Reset Protection usually requires the same Google account that was on the phone; bypass tools are not legitimate.

Follow these steps

  1. Try biometrics before resetting

If the lock screen still offers fingerprint or face unlock, use that to open the phone. Immediately go to Settings > Lock screen and create a new PIN or password you will remember, and store it somewhere safe.

You should see: You regain access without erasing data and set a new screen lock.

  2. Try Samsung Find My Mobile unlock or erase

From another device, open Samsung’s official Find My Mobile website, sign in with the Samsung account on the S23 Ultra, select the phone, and use Unlock if available. If Unlock is not offered, use Erase only after you accept the data loss.

You should see: The phone unlocks remotely, or a remote erase starts while the phone is online.

  3. Use Google Find My Device if needed

If Samsung unlock is unavailable, open Google’s official Find My Device site, sign in with the Google account on the phone, select the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and choose Erase Device if you must clear the PIN. Keep the phone charged and on Wi‑Fi or mobile data when possible.

You should see: Google shows the device and accepts an erase command, or reports the phone offline.

  4. Factory reset from recovery as a last local option

If the phone is offline and remote erase cannot run, use Samsung’s official recovery-mode factory reset steps for Galaxy S23 Ultra. After reset, you must sign in with the same Google account previously on the phone to pass Factory Reset Protection.

You should see: The phone resets to setup and asks for the previous Google account before it can be used.

  5. Complete setup and restore backups

Finish Android setup with the previous Google account, then restore from a Google or Samsung Cloud backup if one exists. Set a new PIN and enroll biometrics again.

You should see: The S23 Ultra is usable again with a new lock and any available cloud backup restored.

Extra tips

What to look for: PIN entry screen, fingerprint or face still offered, Samsung or Google account previously used on the phone, and Find My Mobile or Find My Device showing the S23 Ultra online.

Before you change anything: Erasing the phone deletes local photos, messages, and apps that are not backed up. Confirm you know the Google and Samsung account passwords that were on the device. Use only official Samsung Find My Mobile or Google Find My Device pages. Never share account passwords or SMS codes with unexpected callers.
