How do I reset a forgotten 4-digit PIN to open BritBox?

Answer

Check whether BritBox or the device app has a parental, purchase, or profile lock PIN enabled, then use that app’s official “forgot PIN” or account settings path—not a Windows or Google PC PIN reset. Streaming PINs are usually separate from the phone or computer sign-in PIN.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Stop if a site asks for payment to reset a streaming PIN.

Follow these steps

  1. Confirm where the PIN prompt appears

Note whether the 4-digit PIN is requested inside the BritBox app or website, or earlier at the phone/TV/computer sign-in screen. Only continue with BritBox steps if the lock is inside BritBox.

You should see: You know whether this is a BritBox parental/profile PIN versus a device login PIN.

  2. Check BritBox parental or safety locks

While signed in, open BritBox Account, Profiles, Parental Controls, or Privacy/Safety-style settings and look for an app lock, viewing PIN, or purchase PIN.

You should see: You find the setting that requires the 4-digit PIN, or confirm it is enabled.

  3. Use the official forgot-PIN or turn-off path

Choose Forgot PIN, Change PIN, or disable parental controls using BritBox’s official options. Complete any email or account verification BritBox sends only on the official site or app.

You should see: You can set a new PIN or turn the lock off after verifying the account.

  4. Retry on another device if the TV app is stuck

Sign in to BritBox on a phone or computer browser with the same account and adjust parental/PIN settings there, then reopen the TV app.

You should see: The TV app accepts the new PIN setting or no longer blocks entry.

  5. Separate device PIN resets if needed

If the PIN is actually a Windows sign-in PIN or a Google/Android device lock, leave BritBox and use that platform’s official “I forgot my PIN” recovery instead—do not mix those steps with BritBox parental controls.

You should see: Device login recovery is handled on the correct platform, or you confirm the problem was BritBox-only.

Extra tips

What to look for: Exact wording such as “I forgot my PIN,” Parental Controls, Profile lock, or Purchase approval, and whether the prompt appears inside BritBox versus at the Windows/Google device login screen.

Before you change anything: Confirm you are signed into the BritBox account that owns the subscription. Decide whether the PIN prompt is inside BritBox or at the device OS login. Have access to the account email used for BritBox. Never share the PIN or account password with unexpected callers.
