How do I fix a Ryoko phone that says Insert SIM card?

Reseat the included SIM carefully, then restart the Ryoko. Many of these phones use a side SIM tray; make sure the card sits flat. If the message remains, confirm the Ryoko plan is active in Self-Service or Plan Info.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not bend the SIM or force the tray. If the tray will not close, remove it and reseat the card flat.
Follow these steps
Power off and open the SIM area
Turn the Ryoko off. If your model has a removable back cover, use the small notch along the edge to open it carefully. If it has a side tray, skip to the eject-pin step.
You should see: You can see the SIM card area or the side tray without forcing parts.
Check for a SIM already installed
Look in the card area for a SIM that may already be installed. Note whether the tray looks empty or the SIM is present but loose.
You should see: You know whether a SIM is present and how it is seated.
Open the side SIM tray if your model uses one
Use the SIM eject pin to open the left-side SIM tray. Place the included SIM flat in the correct orientation, then slide the tray fully back in.
You should see: The tray closes smoothly and the SIM sits flat with no gap.
Restart the Ryoko
Turn the Ryoko off if it is still on, wait about 30 seconds, then turn it back on and wait for the home screen or setup screen.
You should see: The Insert SIM message clears, or the same message returns after boot.
Confirm the service plan is active
If Insert SIM still appears after one careful reseat, open Ryoko Self-Service or Plan Info and confirm the service plan is active for that SIM.
You should see: Plan status shows active, or you see that service still needs activation.
