Why does CarPlay play sound on my iPhone instead of the car speakers?

CarPlay audio usually routes to the car only when the phone fully hands audio over to CarPlay and the head unit input is set correctly. Restarting the iPhone and the car screen, then reconnecting CarPlay and checking the audio output or source, often restores sound to the car speakers.

- Do not install unknown CarPlay unlock or enhancement apps to fix speaker routing.
Follow these steps
Check the iPhone audio output
While audio is playing, open Control Center on the iPhone, tap the audio destination controls, and choose CarPlay or the car’s name instead of iPhone or headphones.
You should see: Sound moves to the car speakers, or CarPlay appears as a selectable output.
Set the head unit source to CarPlay
On the car screen or HAUXIY unit, switch the audio source to Apple CarPlay if the unit also has Bluetooth, radio, or AUX modes selected.
You should see: The head unit shows CarPlay as the active source and car speakers respond to volume.
Restart the iPhone and car screen
Restart the iPhone, fully power off or reboot the HAUXIY or car screen, then start the car again and reconnect CarPlay by cable or wireless pairing.
You should see: CarPlay reconnects cleanly and audio plays through the car speakers.
Forget and re-add the car if sound still stays on the phone
On the iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, select the car, choose Forget This Car, then pair again. For wireless CarPlay, also remove the car under Bluetooth and reconnect from the head unit.
You should see: A fresh CarPlay session starts and audio routes to the car.

What to look for: Whether CarPlay appears on the car screen, whether the iPhone Control Center shows CarPlay or iPhone as the audio output, and whether the head unit source is set to CarPlay or Apple CarPlay
Before you change anything: Confirm whether you use wired or wireless CarPlay. Note the car stereo or screen brand, such as an aftermarket HAUXIY unit. Avoid random CarPlay “fixer” apps from unknown sources. Do not enter Apple ID passwords into prompts that appear only on the car screen unexpectedly.
