How do I get past No Signal during Insignia TV initial setup?

Answer

No Signal during setup usually means the TV is on the wrong input, not that the remote code is wrong. Finish or exit the language setup, then switch to the HDMI input your cable box, antenna, or streaming device uses.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Avoid websites that charge to unlock TV remotes or install unknown software.
  • Unplug the TV only from a dry outlet and keep liquids away from the set.

Follow these steps

  1. Power-cycle the TV

Unplug the Insignia TV from the wall outlet for about five minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.

You should see: The TV restarts and either continues setup cleanly or reaches a normal home or input screen.

  2. Complete or skip past language setup

If Menu Language or a first-run wizard still appears, use the TV remote arrows and OK/Enter to choose English (or your language) and continue until setup finishes or you reach the home screen.

You should see: The TV leaves the stuck language screen and shows a home, channel, or input screen.

  3. Change to the correct input

Press Input or Source on the Insignia remote or TV, then select the HDMI port (or TV/antenna) that matches your connected device. Power on that device if it is off.

You should see: The No Signal message clears and the connected device picture appears.

  4. Confirm the remote controls volume and power

Once a picture appears, test power, volume, and input with the Insignia remote. Only if the remote itself fails, use a universal remote code list for Insignia after the TV is already showing video.

You should see: The remote controls the TV, or you know the remaining issue is remote pairing rather than No Signal.

Extra tips

What to look for: No Signal on screen, or a first-time setup screen such as menu language that will not advance

Before you change anything: Note which devices are plugged into which HDMI ports. Keep the original Insignia remote nearby if you have it. Unplug only the TV power cord—leave other devices connected unless testing inputs. Do not pay for a remote code unlock from an unexpected website.
