How do I report a phone lost in an Uber?
Answer
Report the lost item in the Uber app trip receipt first, then lock or mark the phone lost in Find My or Find Hub. Do not share account passwords with anyone claiming to have the phone.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Anyone asking you to unlock the phone with your account password may be attempting theft or a scam.
- Erasing the phone remotely can make recovery harder; lock first unless recovery looks unlikely.
Follow these steps
Report lost item in Uber
Open the Uber app, go to Account > Wallet or Trips, select the ride, and choose Help or I lost an item. Follow Uber’s prompts to contact the driver or request return.
You should see: Uber creates a lost-item request or lets you message the driver through the app.
Lock the phone remotely
On another device, open Find My (iPhone) or Find Hub / Find My Device (Android), select the missing phone, and mark it lost or secure it with a lock message and contact number.
You should see: The phone is locked or shows a lost message if it comes online.
Watch for Uber replies
Reply only inside the Uber app or official email. Arrange return using Uber’s guidance; do not share your Apple or Google password.
You should see: You either schedule a return or learn the phone was not found.
Escalate if needed
If the driver does not respond, continue with Uber support from the same trip help page, then file a carrier or insurance claim if recovery fails.
You should see: Uber closes the lost-item case or you start a replacement claim.

Extra tips
What to look for: A phone left in a recent Uber ride, and access to the rider account used for that trip.
Before you change anything: Have the trip date and pickup details ready. Use Find My or Google Find Hub from another device if possible. Never pay a stranger outside Uber’s official process. Do not share unlock codes with unexpected callers.
