How do I sign into iCloud on a refurbished iPhone 13?
Answer
On a refurbished iPhone 13, apps and accounts only appear after you sign in with the correct Apple Account (or restore a backup made with that account). A wrong-password error means the email or password does not match Apple’s records for that account.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Factory erase without the previous owner’s credentials will not remove Activation Lock.
Follow these steps
Identify the correct Apple Account email
Try the email you use for the App Store, iMessage, or older iCloud mail. Check purchase receipt emails if unsure.
You should see: You know which email to use, or you know you must recover the account.
Sign in on the iPhone
Open Settings, tap Sign in to your iPhone, and enter that Apple Account email and password carefully.
You should see: The phone signs in, or Apple shows a specific wrong-password or locked-account message.
Reset the password officially if needed
If the password is wrong, use iforgot.apple.com or the on-screen Forgot Password option and complete Apple’s verification steps.
You should see: You set a new password and can sign in on the iPhone.
Restore apps from backup or re-download
After sign-in, restore an iCloud or computer backup if available, or re-download apps from the App Store Purchased list.
You should see: Apps and account services begin appearing on the refurbished phone.

Extra tips
What to look for: Wrong password errors, Activation Lock screens, and which Apple Account email the phone expects.
Before you change anything: Confirm which email you use for App Store purchases. Do not erase again until you know whether Activation Lock is present. Reset passwords only on Apple’s official site. Never share Apple passwords with unexpected callers.
