How do I unblock a number and remove duplicate contacts on a phone?

Answer

Open the blocked-numbers or call-block list, remove the business number, then merge or delete duplicate contacts in the Contacts app. On some handsets the menus are labeled Caller ID, Call Block, or Blocked List.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Deleting the wrong duplicate contact can remove the only saved number you need.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the blocked list

Go to Caller ID settings, Call Block, or Blocked List, depending on what the handset shows.

You should see: You see the list of blocked numbers.

  2. Unblock the business number

Open the blocked numbers list, select the business number, and choose Unblock or Remove.

You should see: The number is no longer listed as blocked.

  3. Clean duplicate contacts

Open Contacts, find repeated names, and use Merge, Link, or Delete to keep one clean entry with the correct number.

You should see: Duplicate rows are reduced to a single contact.

  4. Place a test call

Ask the business to call you, or call them and request a callback, to confirm the phone rings.

You should see: Calls from that number ring normally.
