How do I unlock a new Samsung phone from T-Mobile if I forgot the password?

Answer

If the lock was set during setup and then forgotten, Samsung account Forgot PIN/Password options or a factory reset are the usual paths. T-Mobile can help with SIM/service issues, but screen-lock recovery is typically handled by Samsung or Google account processes.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Factory reset deletes local data that was not synced.
  • Do not pay third parties who claim they can unlock Samsung phones remotely.

Follow these steps

  1. Try Samsung’s Forgot lock option

On the lock screen, enter wrong attempts until Forgot PIN/Password/Pattern appears, then verify with the Samsung account tied to the phone.

You should see: You can set a new lock without wiping, or the option is unavailable.

  2. Confirm cloud data before wiping

From another device, check Google Photos, Contacts, and Samsung Cloud for the accounts used during setup.

You should see: You know what will survive a reset.

  3. Factory reset through recovery if needed

Boot the phone into Android recovery using Samsung’s key combo for your model, choose Wipe data/factory reset, and confirm.

You should see: The phone erases and restarts into setup.

  4. Complete FRP with the previous Google account

During setup, sign in with the same Google account that was on the phone before the reset. Contact Google/Samsung account recovery only through official pages if you no longer have that login.

You should see: Setup continues and you can create a new screen lock.

Extra tips

What to look for: Forgot lock options on the lock screen, and which Google/Samsung accounts were added during T-Mobile setup.

Before you change anything: Confirm whether any photos already synced to Google Photos. Have Google and Samsung account credentials ready. Understand a reset wipes the phone.
