How do I unlock an ONN Android tablet after too many wrong PIN attempts?

Answer

After repeated wrong PINs, Android locks further attempts for a short wait. If you still remember the PIN, wait for the timer and enter it carefully. If the PIN is forgotten, the usual recovery is a factory reset from recovery mode, which erases tablet data.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • A factory reset erases apps, photos, and files stored only on the tablet.

Follow these steps

  1. Wait and retry the known PIN

    Leave the tablet on the lock screen until the wait timer ends, then enter the PIN slowly and carefully once.

    You should see: The tablet unlocks, or it clearly rejects the PIN again without a long lockout.

  2. Boot into recovery only if the PIN is unknown

    If you do not know the PIN and accept data loss, power the tablet fully off, then use the model’s recovery key combination (often Power + Volume Up or Power + Volume Down) until the recovery menu appears.

    You should see: You see an Android recovery menu with Wipe data/factory reset.

  3. Factory reset from recovery

    Use the volume buttons to highlight Wipe data/factory reset, press Power to select it, confirm yes, then choose reboot system now after the wipe finishes.

    You should see: The tablet restarts into initial setup as a new device.

  4. Complete setup and Google verification

    Connect to Wi-Fi and sign in with the Google account that was previously on the tablet if prompted by Factory Reset Protection, then set a new PIN.

    You should see: Setup completes and you can use the tablet again.

Extra tips

What to look for: A message about wrong PIN attempts and a wait time before trying again

Before you change anything: Wait through any on-screen countdown before trying the PIN again. Only factory-reset if you accept that apps and files on the tablet will be erased. Have the Google account email and password that were on the tablet ready for after-reset verification. Do not follow strangers' links claiming to unlock Android without a reset.
