Why does a Bose SoundTouch 10 status light stay amber?
Answer
An amber SoundTouch status light usually means the speaker is not connected to Wi-Fi or needs setup mode. Restart the speaker, reconnect it in the SoundTouch app, and re-enter Wi-Fi details.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- A network reset clears saved Wi-Fi settings on the speaker.
Follow these steps
Power-cycle the speaker
Unplug the SoundTouch 10 for 60 seconds, plug it back in, and wait two minutes. Watch whether the status light becomes white/connected or stays amber.
You should see: The speaker either reconnects or remains amber ready for setup.
Reconnect in the SoundTouch app
Open the SoundTouch app on the same Wi-Fi, add or select the speaker, and follow prompts to join the network. Enter the current Wi-Fi password carefully.
You should see: The speaker appears in the app and the amber light changes to a normal connected state.
Reset Wi-Fi setup on the speaker
If it stays amber, use the SoundTouch 10 network/setup reset sequence from Bose’s support for your model (typically holding specific buttons until the light blinks). Then run setup again in the app.
You should see: The speaker enters setup mode and can take new Wi-Fi credentials.
Check router compatibility
Connect the speaker to a 2.4 GHz SSID, disable AP/client isolation, and move closer to the router during setup. Retest playback.
You should see: Audio plays and the status light no longer stays amber.

Extra tips
What to look for: SoundTouch 10 powers on with a steady amber status light, does not play sound, and may be missing from the SoundTouch app device list.
Before you change anything: Confirm your Wi-Fi password. Prefer 2.4 GHz network compatibility for older SoundTouch speakers. Note that a speaker reset clears saved Wi-Fi settings.
