How do I connect a Vizio TV to Wi-Fi without the remote?
Answer
Most Vizio TVs can join Wi-Fi without the original remote by using the physical buttons on the TV or the Vizio Mobile app as a remote. Open Network settings with those controls, select the home network, and enter the password.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Download only the official Vizio Mobile app from a trusted app store.
Follow these steps
Locate the TV control buttons
Feel along the bottom edge, right side, or rear of the Vizio for Volume, Channel, Input, or a joystick-style button. Press the center or Menu action to open the on-screen menu.
You should see: The TV menu appears without using the remote.
Navigate with volume and channel buttons
Use Volume + and Volume - to move left and right, and Channel + and Channel - to move up and down, if your model maps menus that way. Open Network, then Wi-Fi.
You should see: The list of nearby Wi-Fi networks appears.
Enter the Wi-Fi password
Select your home network and enter the password with the on-screen keyboard using the same TV buttons. Confirm and wait for the connected status.
You should see: The TV shows it is connected to Wi-Fi.
Use the Vizio Mobile app if buttons are too limited
Install the official Vizio Mobile app, connect the phone to the same network if the TV is partially online, or follow the app’s IR/remote setup for your model to finish network entry.
You should see: The phone controls the TV and completes Wi-Fi setup.

Extra tips
What to look for: Physical Volume and Channel or Menu buttons on the TV bezel, whether the Vizio Mobile app can discover the TV, and the Wi-Fi network name you need.
Before you change anything: Have the Wi-Fi password ready. Confirm the TV has power and shows a picture. Install the official Vizio Mobile app if you will use a phone as a remote. Avoid buying a universal remote until the button or app method is tried.
